Essay:
The phrase, “We ought to make every moment count, because it may be our last” (Dr. Parker) should be taught to everyone as a motto. Who is to say that we will be here tomorrow or the next hour? Every moment of your life should be spent as if it were your last on earth. That is the message Dr. Parker is trying to relay to everyone. Don’t hold any grudges, don’t hold back, put off or turn down anything you know you can do. You may not get the opportunity again. We as a society put off things we can do, for a later date or time. What people fail to realize is, we are not guaranteed another day maybe not even another hour. Who knows? It might be something we really like to do and we don’t want to do it because of personal problems or an outside problem that does not relate to a situation that interfere.
For instance, you leave your apartment frustrated at your significant other because you need a breath of fresh air. You run into your old basketball teammate and he is reminiscing about games you two played in together. Time is flying by and you realize that it is getting late and you need to get home. While walking home, a truck hits you and it paralyzed the right side of your body. Now you think to yourself “Only if I never left the house” There was nothing forbidding you to stay home, anger let you walk out. Now you can’t spend quality time anymore with your partner. All your plans in life are put on hold because of the accident. In times like those where you get rowdy up from anger to the point where you don’t want to be bothered, you just have to let go and let God. Let go of all the troubles and heartaches and just wait it out. In the end everything will be all right. Don’t put off things you can do at that moment, for another time. “We ought to make every moment count, because it could be your last”.
